New York based PepsiCo. gave Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, or PFLAG,
a $500,000 grant to be used towards their education campaign Straight for Equality as well as to help support the local chapters of the organization. The move will undoubtably bring Pepsi Co. the ire of the Conservative Christians. Pepsi Co. joins Levi Strauss in the group of businesses which have voiced support for LGBTI issues of late.

Clay Aiken failed to surprise many, including Simon Cowell, by coming out of the closet this passed week. Aiken’s sexuality had been the fodder of many a tabloid story since his appearance on American Idol.

Paul Newman, the legendary actor, passed away from complications relating to his battle with lung cancer this week. Newman was an active philanthropist using the money he made from his Newman’s Own line of products to found a series of camps for ill children. Additionally, he was active in supporting a number of liberal causes and politicians. Mr. Newman is survived by his family, by his films and his philanthropic organizations. He will be missed.

The US adaptation of the UK Show Little Britain debuted on HBO this week to mixed reviews. The consensus was that the show was extremely crude. Obviously, any critic expecting high wit on this show has never seen the original, which itself is often extremely crude.

Not to mention that Google officially came out against California's Proposition 8, which would ban same-sex marriage.
I haven't seen the US version but I have to say I find the UK Little Britain hilarious...some parts can be little offensive but all in all it is hilarious!

I missed a lot of stuff this week. Unfortunately, I'm still getting use to my meds and I'm not feeling very good latley. Thank you though for bringing that up.

I watched a few episodes of the original. British humor tends to be a lot cruder and, well, a lot funnier than a lot of American humor. I really don't tend to watch a lot of American sitcoms. However, since this is on HBO, it will probably survive for a while. So far, most attempts to bring a British sitcom to the US fail. Red Dwarf and Coupling are two examples, though That 70's Show and Sandford and Son are both shows that made the transition.
As someone who has recently benefited from the support of a local P-Flag chapter, I am thankful to Pepsi Co. for their gift.
