How to Spice Things Up in Your Bedroom

Keeping things interesting in the bedroom can be hard for any couple. After awhile things just become routine, stale and predictable. And unfortunately, since sex is such a powerful factor, when it starts to suffer, so can your relationship. So what do you do? How do you pull yourself out of your bedroom rut? Try some of these tips if you've been feeling the lull recently.

Take it outside.
After awhile the spontaneity dissipates. You no longer want to ravage your partner when you're at a party or when she's cooking dinner. Bring it back and sneak up on them when they're doing household chores, get handsy at the beach or sneak away to a bathroom while you're out. Leaving the bedroom is a great way to make things feel new and fresh again.

Read sexy novels to each other.
As women, we're much more mental, so get each other in the mood by reading sexy stories to each other. This is also a great way to break into dirty talk if you weren't already comfortable with doing so. Do it before you go to bed or randomly throughout the day to get each other going.

Act it out.
Role playing can be a lot of fun and help you cast aside any inhibitions you may have. Throw on a wig or an outfit and sink into character. Dressing like someone else can also make you feel like you're sleeping with someone new, which is a great way to recharge things without actually sleeping with someone else and losing the connection. Using the sexy novel tip can be a great way to get started with role playing ideas.

Try new things.
Literally, go out and do new things with each other, like canoeing, dance classes or even visit a brewery. Have you ever noticed that you have great sex whenever you go to a hotel or try something new together? It's because when you immediately create a bond and raise your serotonin levels when you try something new with someone. So don't just break out of your bedroom mold, break out of your life routine too and see how it effects your sex life.

Go shopping together.
But skip the mall. Head to a local or online novelty store, like Adam and Eve, and pick out new toys for each other. It's time to re-up if your toys are looking a little worn or your lingerie is at least a decade old. Doing it together can help the two of you open up about what you really want or like and what you want to try. Make a pact to reveal some of your deepest fantasies with each other and try at least one of them out.

Send something dirty.
Keep your partner thinking about you during the day by sending them dirty little texts or emails. It can be exciting for the both of you and make you super excited to see each other later.

At the end of the day, no matter what you choose to do, remember to be open with your partner. If you feel like things have slowed down and become a little ho hum, it's likely they think so, too. So start talking and see what happens. Sometimes words can be enough to get things going again.

Pin-Up-of-the-Day: Caption This! The Return

The Lesbiatopia "Pin-up-of-the-Day" was always a huge hit with the ladies.  And borne out of that was the infamous "Caption This!" segment of "Pin-up-of-the-Day" where we simply posted a ridiculous photo of women, and let you add the caption.  It was pure, unadultered hilarity so we felt that it was time to bring it (back). Oh it's already been brought-en.

Here's the preview...

Good, Inexpensive Date Ideas For Two 17-Year-Old Lesbians

By Kaylee Larson from lesbianlovenow.com

The teen years are incredibly difficult for everyone, especially when it comes to dating. This is even truer for young lesbians, particularly if they aren’t completely ready to come out to their friends and families just yet, or are still confused about their sexuality. So, how can two 17-year-old lesbians enjoy an inexpensive night out, especially if they haven’t told anyone about their relationship?

If you are a teenager, you probably either get money through an after-school job, or you rely on the allowance your parents give you. So, needless to say, you probably don’t have much to spend. There are, however, still all kinds of things that you can do to have a fun and romantic date, and it doesn’t have to cost much at all.

If you go to dinner, that can be expensive, and you may risk being discovered, but there are still ways you can enjoy a romantic meal together. Why not pack a nice picnic lunch, complete with a blanket and nice wine glasses (remember, you’re underage, so no actual wine)? Take a romantic walk through a nice wooded location, and sit by a river or brook and have your meal as you talk and enjoy each other’s company.

Enjoy the time that you are spending alone together. If it’s nice out, take a swim. Or, when you have finished your meal, talk to each other about your dreams and aspirations. This is a great way to get to know each other. If either of you has a driver’s license, a nice drive in the country always makes for a pleasant afternoon date. And you can always stop somewhere for your picnic.

Or, why not find some sort of hobby or activity that you both really enjoy, and make this something that you do together. Take some classes together, or just hang out at the mall and go window shopping. Or, if you are both into working out, schedule workout dates together, either at a local health club, or in one of your homes. If the two of you are really serious about each other, everything you do together will seem like you are on a date. Use your imagination, and you are sure to have a terrific time!

The "Uncredited Google Images" Meme

I love memes and I can pretty much count on Jess to always have the most interesting ones on her blog even though I know that she actually steals them from Tina, who is the real brainchild of the operation. And since I'm right there with Lori Hahn in that, my brain is mush, I thought a meme would be the perfect thing to post right now.

Embarrassment at its Finest

There are certain events that occur in life which tend to be embarrassing at worst and entertaining at best. Usually these events have a tendency to find themselves onto the internet, whether it be in photographic or video format. When drinking beverages of the alcoholic nature, I try to avoid both digital and video cameras due to the sheer fact that all moral codes of conduct tend to throw themselves out the window when alcohol is involved. I'm sure most of you know this type of behavior all too well.

What I'm about to share with you is a classic embarrassing moment for me, but for the sake entertainment purposes, will be enjoyable for you, the viewer and thus I have decided not to be selfish and share it for the sake of entertainment purposes. Afterall, it is the holidays and those are the most wonderful times of the year.

If you remember back to Halloween, you'll remember that I dressed up like Sarah Palin and went to a popular karaoke bar in LA. The highlight of my night was winning 2nd place in the costume contest which equated to a prize of free drinks at the bar all night. This was a winning combination. Fortunately, there was a dude there dressed like Barack Obama, and in my alcohol-induced celebridency I decided it would be an awesometastic idea to sing a duet with him. It was, of course, videotaped (not to my knowledge) and has since found it's way on YouTube. Obviously. So here it is, "Sarah Palin", played by myself singing "I've had the time of my life" with President-elect, "Barack Obama". Enjoy.

The 10th Anniversary of IDKE

C’mon ride the train back to Columbus on October 16-19th, 2008 for the Tenth Annual International Drag KingCommunity Extravaganza. Fast Friday Productions and Columbus, Ohio welcomes the return of gender play, performance, theory and art after six long-awaited years. Fueled in Minnesota-MN(5), Chicago-IL (6), Winnipeg-Manitoba (7), Austin-TX (8), and Vancouver-BC (9), the IDKE.X journey back promises to delight your international tastes in drag king community culture.

IDKE is a first-of-its-kind event in that it is a collaborative, non-competitive gathering of drag king community performers, their fans, and the people who study, photograph and film them. 1 It was originally started by a group of Ohio State University Women’s Studies Graduate Students who assembled an “insider’s view on FTM drag as a subculture and craved to network beyond the Midwestern boundaries of Columbus, Ohio, circa 1998.”1 From its grassroots beginnings, IDKE has grown from 100 attendees to the thousands expected in Columbus this year.

IDKE.X features a two-day conference, Art and Film Festival, Transman Health Fair, Merchant Fair, and International Drag Performances featuring performers from New Zealand, France, Rome, Canada and throughout the United States…All brought together to enjoy, learn, and indulge in our gender-loving culture.

The two day conference will be hosted at Stonewall Columbus Center on High and the Frank Hale Multicultural Center at the Ohio State University. With the additions of a Transman Health Fair and a Job Fair this year, the IDKE Conference exhibits what we have learned about our historical “presence” as gender-queer beings; gender performance beyond the scope of the stage; gender-queer theory; mass popular culture and critical race theories; gender-queer community viability; the function of familial relations both past and present; Kingcommunity health & wellness, etc…

The Art Festival will include collections from IDKE artists displayed in the Columbus Short North Businesses—as well as the debut of a new art anthology, the History of Drag Kings, exhibiting past IDKE memorabilia. The IDKE.X Film Fest presents films from Drag subculture in the US, France, Canada and more. Featuring a collection of Film Shorts on Friday, the Film Fest will take place at AXIS from Thursday through Saturday.

And in the spirit of our ever-evolving Gender World, IDKE culminates in a variety of Stage events to delight every fancy--known or unknown. In its 10th year Friday’s Dragdom, once the greenhorn stage where new performers or new alias’ amused and surprised audience members, will be held at Wall Street which formerly housed the grand weekend performance event, the Saturday Night IDKE Showcase. The IDKE.X Showcase will bring together the world’s best drag performances on Columbus’ finest stage, the Lifestyles Community Pavilion at Promowest. Nominated as the finest new Concert venue by Pollster Magazine in 2001, the LC Pavilion will host a night of Drag talent the likes of which you have never seen…acts that will leave you breathless for more, and a dance After Party with 2000+ international & national gender-queer, queer friendly, and queer curious party-goers.

If that isn’t enough, on Friday swing by East Village Video Bar & Cafe for Viva’s Red Light District Burlesque Show “Dames who Love their Kings” the hot and steamy loveliness of Viva Valezz and some of the most wow woW wOW VABOOM in Burlesque this century. These Dames are smokin'!!

Realizing the youth also need their own space to show their talents, IDKE will also host a YOUTH SPEAKEASY in coordination with Stonewall Columbus. The Youth Speakeasy turns the mic over to the new generation of performers. We welcome musicians, singers, spoken word artists and performers from ages 4 to 18 to their very own stage production.

IDKE ends on Sunday with the Brunch which will be hosted at Columbus’ newest lounge and danceclub, LIQUID. Come enjoy the wonderful LIQUID brunch fare & reminisce with new friends and old before they depart--while getting one last gender boost of theatrical acts, spoken word, and live music.
IDKE.X is all you can ask for, and all the things you couldn’t bring yourself to speak of. Don’t miss the train. www.idkex.com
