Let Me Be Your Valentine's Day Pin-Up Girl!
"Pin-up" may also refer to drawings, paintings and other illustrations done in emulation of these photos (see the List of pinup artists). The term was first attested to in English in 1941; however the practice is documented back at least to the 1890s. The “pin up” images could be cut out of magazines or newspapers, or be from postcard or chromo-lithographs, and so on. Such photos often appear on calendars, which are meant to be pinned up anyway. Later, posters of “pin-up girls” were mass-produced.
Many “pin ups” were photographs of celebrities who were considered sex symbols. One of the most popular early pin-up girls was Betty Grable. Her poster was ubiquitous in the lockers of G.I.s during World War II. Others pin-ups were artwork, often
The term “cheesecake” is synonymous with “pin-up photo”. The earliest documented print usage of this sense of “cheesecake” is in 1934, predating “pin-up”, although anecdotes say the phrase was in spoken slang some 20 years earlier, originally in the phrase (said of a pretty woman) “better than cheesecake”. In the 1950's, for example, there was a magazine called Cheesecake that had a young Marilyn Monroe in an itsy bitsy yellow bikini on its cover in 1953.
These days men can be considered “pin ups” as well and there are male equivalents of attractive and sexy actors such as Harrison Ford or numerous male models, but really who wants to see pin-ups of men. Women are so much sexier!
Some famous Pin-Up girls include (to name a few):
-Bette Davis
-Joan Crawford
-Mae West
-Judy Garland
-Rita Hayworth
-Audrey Hepburn
-Grace Kelly
-Doris Day
-Faye Dunaway
-Mary Tyler Moore
-Jane Fonda
...and many more
And now, Lesbiatopia is proud to introduce, courtesy of the fabulous art of Tali Shapiro, your newest pin-up girl (just in time for Valentines Day)...
DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

"Some of us love it and celebrate it with our beloved, and some of us spend it sitting alone, in a dark corner of a bar, muttering bitterly how Valentine's sucks. This design captures the duality of the love/hate relationship most of us have with Valentine's day. Love it or hate it, tell everybody how you feel about it with the 'Valentine's is for Pussies' bitter-sweet pinup, and click on one of the items below!I know I've had my moments of loving (and hating) Valentine's Day too, and I think pretty much everyone can relate to our culture's rollercoastery attitude towards a holiday whose historical significance dates back to the days of Chaucer and his poem about St. Valentine and looooove:
"For this was on seynt Volantynys dayAnyway, whatever feelings you desire to express on V-Day (love, hate or delicious ambiguity), be sure to check out Tali's little shop of pin-ups (and her pin-up blog, too!), where retro pop-art meets the modern-day women. Is that sexy, or what?? MEEEE-OOOOOWW!!
Whan euery bryd comyth there to chese [choose] his make [mate]."

Theories on the Lesbian U-Haul Phenomena
Let's face it, ever since the days of Sapphos, lesbians have entered relationships at warp speed. The excerpt below is a passage from a poem written by Sapphos herself while living on the Isle of Lesbos at the time of Ancient Greece:"but come--if ever before
having heard my voice from far away
you listened, and leaving your father's
golden home you came
in your chariot yoked with swift, lovely
sparrows bringing you over the dark earth
thick-feathered wings swirling down
from the sky through mid-air
arriving quickly--you, Blessed One,
with a smile on your unaging face
asking again what have I suffered
and why am I calling again..."
There's the age old running joke Q:"What does a lesbian bring on the second date?" A: "A U-Haul" and for some reason, all lesbians are guilty of going through this at least once in their dating lives. So what's up with lesbians and their tendency to progress in a relationship at lighting speed? Well, I've come up with a few of my own theories that I would like to explore here.*
*Please be advised these theories are for entertainment purposes only. The views expressed in this article may have been written when I was drunk or sleeping. Please do not take them too seriously (or may god have mercy on your lipgloss).
Theory 1 - The low-income theory
This theory targets the younger lesbian population, either collegiate lesbians or recently graduated lesbians who have recently entered the working world. These women usually find themselves in crappy entry-level jobs which pay slightly over the poverty line. It is also known that most women graduate with substantial amounts of student loan debt and find themselves struggling to make ends meet in the real word. If lesbian 1 happens upon a lady caller of interest, it immediately becomes apparant to her that having said lady move in would subsequently reduce ther rent by 50% with the sharing of living costs. This would make paying for their already too-pricey ultra-hip art district studio apartment a lot easier on the wallet. With that said, the lady being courted might be encouraged rather rapidly to pack up her U-Haul and move on in.
Theory 2 - The beloved pet theory
This theory targets lesbian pet owners and the women they date. There are two classes of
Theory 3 - The ugly theory
The ugly theory is simple, so I won't waste too much of your time here. It targets lesbians who feel they are ugly and find they have to compensate for their percieved ugliness with a really fantastic personality. This breed of lesbian's fear of rejection and the idea of never finding true love may lead to slight delirium. In these cases, the delirium may cause the lesbian to attach themselves to the first woman that shows a vested interest in them. This can lead to attached-at-the-hip-syndrome and ultimately cause the delirious lesbian to invite their new girlfriend to move in as soon as possible. This false sense of security that comes with the idea that if you live with your girlfriend, than you must be in a stable long-term relationship. Given the reality of how lesbian drama in these circumstances usually plays out, this situation almost always ends up in tragedy for the not-so-happily married couple.
Theory 4 - The first girlfriend theory
This theory is for everyone, whether you dated guys first (unfortunately) or you have only been
So here I will conclude this segment on theories of the lesbian U-Haul phenomena. Don't don't go
In conclusion, The next time you're ready to pack up your stuff and run off to a tropical island with your new girlfriend, stop and think about your motives. Is it really because her pet Fluffy is so damn cute? Is it because she makes enough money to cover the cost of living and pay for the groceries? Or is it because you are simply too scared to be alone? Whatever the reason (and I don't care how great the sex is), make sure to re-think everything through 10 times or else you might find yourself stuck with a mortgage and a not-so-cute pet that pees on the carpet and poops in the tub.

I am naked, so what?

(an editorial note from Paula the Surf Mom)
Our regular readers have over the past couple weeks been noticing that every Friday Lesbiatopia's talented exclusive resident artist, Muchachita has been posting her wonderful little cartoons here and I think they are quite honestly just adorable.
But just today I got an E-Mail asking me who is Muchachita? Well as I read the E-Mail I happened to think to myself how rude of us here to have not properly introduced her to all of you.
Muchachita is from Spain, but she is currently residing in the United Kingdom, where she is a student. She draws her cartoons for us and does all of our special art projects for articles and such. She is also quite the sweetie, as I think you can tell from her work. Muchachita is pretty humble, but every artist wants to know people like their work, so please let her know what you think if you like what she does, because for Muchachita it is a labor of love.

Top 10 Lesbian Cartoon Characters
1. Betty Boop
Other female characters of the same time period showed their panties regularly, like Minnie Mouse, but didn't have those sexy curves. Betty Boop, however, revels in her sexuality. She wears short dresses and a garter belt yet never once do you see her with a man. Plus, her breasts are prominent, and she shows her cleavage making all the girls go ga-ga.
2. Wilma Flintstone
Wilma plays the strong-willed, level-headed person in her marriage, often criticizing Fred for pursuing his various ill-fated schemes because of his moronic behavior. To keep true to herself, the flirtations with Betty Rubble were obviously an intense affair that just never got the screen time it deserved.
3. Alice in Wonderland
Have you ever seen Alice with a guy? She surrounds herself with cute little animals and goes on adventures through a mystical forrest. She's obviously smoking something because she has several hallucinations. The reference to Alice "falling down the rabbit hole" is an obvious allegorical reference to lesbian sex.
4. Catwoman
This character is rather obvious. Catwoman can be loosely interpreted as "Woman who likes pussy". She's been the object of Batman's affections for years yet it is obvious that she doesn't like him more than just a friend. Sorry Batman! Catwoman's villianous side makes her one sexy dyke with an attitude.
5. Jem (from Jem and the Holograms)
"Showtime, Synergy!" and "Truly outrageous!" Jem is a rocker chick with big hair and a secret identity who only her Hologram bandmates know about. Jem and Aja, the guitarist and backup singer, are REAL close. Aja is cool and level headed and their mutual flirtations have not gone unnoticed. Plus she is always driving Jem around.
6. Ursula
Two words: Octopussy. With all those tentacles, she's sure to be a real lady pleaser. Overweight, a little on the crazy side, I mean how much dykier can she get? Plus, her overt attraction to Ariel and the fact that it was clearly NOT reciprocated, made her resort to typical crazy lesbian behavior out of desperation.
7. Velma (from Scooby Doo)
Velma always tries to sit next to Daphne in the Mystery Machine. She is always seen sportin' that butch haircut. Plus, she has these big broad shoulders and wears thick turtleneck-sweaters and knee socks. Her fashion sense is pretty much non-existent and she never once shagged Shaggy.
8. Peppermint Patty
Peppermint Patty is a shoe-in for a lesbian. She has a deep, gravelly voice and always wears pants, not dresses, like the other Peanuts gals. She also plays a mean game of football and likes to taunt Charlie Brown. She's most definitely sleeping with the rather androgynous Marcie.
9. The Powerpuff girls
These girls are bright and rainbowy. They are ALWAYS together and exhibit that classic lesbian attached-at-the-hip syndrome like no other. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a little menage trois action going on between the 3 of them. They have amazing superpowers but oddly enough, lack fingers which makes them all the more intriguing. Don't be fooled by their cuteness, these dykes can easily open up a can of whoopass if you mess with them.
10. Smurfette
One blue girl in a sea of blue men, yet not an ounce of sexual tension. That sounds like a big fat lesbian to me. Poor Smurfette had low self-esteem and thought she was ugly, but really she just needed to hit up a good dyke bar and take home a hottie.
